In late December of 2014, Earl Vaults played a Christmas event at Christian Fellowship United Congregational Church. The Pastor, Dr. J. Lee Hill expressed a desire to do something different at the church. He envisioned a Jazz Vespers Worship Service that would incorporate Jazz and Gospel presented at an evening Sunday service. Asked if he would be interested, Earl excitedly exclaimed “yes”! “This is something that I have been wanting to do for a long time” thus the birth of New Vision of Praise, going strong for the past 8 years.
Bobby has over 30 years of musical experience and has been Music Director at his church since 2012. He plays piano and organ and produces music.
James’s music journey began in San Diego, many years ago. He taught himself to play by ear but studied music with renowned bassist Bob Magnusson and Kristin Korb. Music is his 2nd career and a lifelong passion that he says he’ll never retire.
Weldon’s musical journey started over 50 years ago on drums and piano. He is currently the worship leader at two churches and is the lead and background vocalist for New Vision of Praise.
Justice has 20 years of musical experience. She holds a bachelor’s degree in music with a concentration in jazz studies, percussion, and music media. She is currently pursuing a degree in music therapy.
Felicia’s love of the arts began at an early age. She has performed in numerous stage plays and sings with her church choir. She is a soprano with the Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Choir and performs in their annual “All about the Blues” cabaret show.
Steve has over 40 years of musical experience. He is a renowned piano teacher and serves as organist/keyboardist for several churches in the San Diego area. He is an original member of New Vision of Praise.
Jorge is a self-taught musician from the age of 12. He has been playing guitar in lots of different styles and churches for over 15 years. He also enjoys playing drums and producing music.
